Schrunser Loop

The Schruns loop links the two main towns of the Montafon on flat riverside paths. From Schruns station (690 m), the terminus of the Montafonerbahn, you run along the Litz to Tschagguns station, switch to the right-bank Ill path and pass the Aktivpark Montafon with the Alpenbad pool. At the golf course the loop turns, leads back on the other side of the Ill and through the residential streets of Schruns via Auweg, Widumweg and Veltlinerweg to the station. According to the track 7.0 km and 65 m of ascent, guideline a good hour's walking – run it is the ideal 35 to 45 minute session. According to OpenStreetMap the surface is almost entirely asphalt or firm gravel.

The Batlogg monument on the Kirchplatz is worth a small detour: since 1907 it has commemorated Johann Josef Batlogg (1751–1800), the Landammann of the Montafon who organised the defence of the passes against the French in 1799. The loop suits recovery runs, rest days and rainy days; there are cafés and restaurants on every corner in Schruns. From our house bus 650 takes you to Schruns in about 15 minutes; by car it is 10 km (free parking at the Zamang cable car).
